DreamcastGuy in the Dollar Bin!!

I was recently lucky enough to do a segment of DreamcastGuy's "Totally Awesome Head to Head" where we played Vanishing Point and discussed important issues like Ford Motor Company, slo-mo blood-spurting necks, and Angelina Jolie's insatiable hunger for ethnic babies.  Check out DreamcastGuy's Youtube channel  http://www.youtube.com/user/DreamcastGuy, as well as the blog he contributes to ScatterMindCentral.com

May the 4th be with you...

Meco is a group from the late 70s and early 80s who did disco covers of classic themes and soundtracks, I just so happened to stumble across this LP in time for Star Wars Day

"Rewind This" documentary trailer - I'm in it for half a second!!

Later this year the producers will begin shopping the documentary around...  see me at 2:52 with the big case VHS of the movie I just posted, "Bubba - Until it Hurts"   also check out the website for updates!     http://www.rewindthismovie.com/

Bubba - Until it Hurts

So Bubba Smith is a gentle giant of NFL and Police Academy fame.  His exercise video is probably like most exercise videos, but I especially like the intro where we meet his friends and he tells us he loves us before he makes "it" hurt.

*LP at HPB alert* Skyy - Let's Celebrate

This LP is at HPB for $3.99 for anyone who is big a Randy Muller fan as I am...

Multiplication Rap with DJ Doc Roc and crew...

The most effective method for teaching children multiplication is obviously rapping and crappy psychedelic visuals.

Warlock... the sequel?

Warlock: The Armageddon is not actually canon to Warlock, even though it stars Julian Sands and is produced by the same people...  Oh well, it's worth a spin....VHS!!!!

Corman + Carradine + Dorsett

"Kill Zone" is a late Roger Corman production starring David Carradine and Tony Dorsett (I'm not sure why).  This is one of many Carradine 'Nam flicks.

*80s synth duo recommendation*

I love The System and I've seen their records around a lot lately...  great synth funk duo...

LP Gem of the Week!

This LP, Bobby Nunn's "Private Party", was one I thought I'd never see...  it crept from my dreams to my reality last week.

Ooooooh, you so funky and hot!!

The Miami Bass kids group "The Puppies" secured their place in cheerleader routine history with this track, but many have never seen the video.  I don't recall where I got this copy, but I knew it was better quality than the others on YouTube... little did I know I'd be getting 15,000+ hits a month from it.  Enjoy!!

Norm gets you wasted, like a pro

This is from the tape "The Beer Academy" starring George Wendt aka "Norm", everybody's favorite 80s functional alcoholic.  This is one of the first tapes that made me want to become a VHS enthusiast. In this video he teaches you how to pour draft beer, wash and sanitize glasses, etc. - all the tips a bartender needs to know.  In a bizarre twist, Norm is now SERVING the beer instead of drinking it.  After impressively staving off the rabid boozehounds that storm him from across the bar, he receives something I want super badly now, an apron that says "PRO".  He then promptly endorses drinking on the job in slow motion.  Beautiful

What is the Dollar Bin, and who is "Dollar Ben"?

I am Dollar Ben, VHSquire.  I have a passion for VHS and vinyl, most specifically from the 1980s.  These media are overwhelmingly abundant oceans of content that I peruse looking for rare gems of funkiness and cheesiness.  I will be delighting and/or repulsing you with the fruits of this perpetual labor of love.  You will be welcomed into my YouTube, where I will be reviewing VHS flicks and providing clips and trailers to enjoy.  I will also provide links to music I love, mostly 80s boogie funk tracks.  Your feedback will be greatly appreciated as I try to bring the best of the worst of what the decade of decadence gave humankind, forever burned into vinyl discs and video cassettes.  Check it out!!       www.youtube.com/user/bedtime4bonzo
